February Meeting is coming up!

halljanell

Hi everyone! It's been fun seeing the subscriptions to our site come in and I wanted to thank everyone for joining.

First, some prep for the meeting-

  1. Most of our meeting will be open sew from 2:00pm to 8:30pm on Wednesday February 12th. As you know, one of our mottoes, and the title for our site is 'Always Be Sewing'! At 6ish we'll start the meeting.

  2. Each month we focus on a basic block and follow its transformation into something new in quilt form. This month is the nine-patch, and if you have any interesting quilts you've seen using it in new or beautiful ways, please send a pic and any comments to alwaysbesewing@gmail.com.

  3. Gossip this month will be taking on whether ironing to 'set stitches' is a thing. Bring your opinions and prepare for the back biting! (JK friends, we are all pretty. )

Second, I wanted to chat about Show and Tell. We all love showing off our work and we'd be happy to feature your projects on our site in our Show and Tell section, with commentary by you. We are also on Bluesky as Just Sew You Know, and will happily post member's creations there. So if you have a quilt, bag, or sewing project, send pic(s) and what you'd like to say about it to our email, which is again: alwaysbesewing@gmail.com.

Third, if you checked out the site events, you might have seen our retreat is coming up at the end of the month, February 27th- March 2nd, and we'd love for you to join us in any capacity. While there is no cost for the retreat itself, overnight stays are at the Quilter's Lodge rates, and they charge $35 per day to join us in the sewing room. We'd like a count of who is coming and when they plan to be there, so please send us an email at alwaysbesewing.

I'm making corn chowder for anyone who is there Thursday night. As for other food, we all brought treats to share and a couple people brought food for other meals, like sandwich fixings, or bagels, etc. We also ordered some meals. There are a lot of great restaurants in the area. If you want to contribute, great, but if for any reason you don't, it's absolutely fine. Last time we ended up with way too much food and sooo many snacks.

Okay, I'll stop the on and on and say I'm looking forward to meeting #2! I love my quilt groups and can't wait to see you all!
