Quilt, Chat, Repeat: A Recap of Our Fabulous Quilting Retreat

Picture this: a cozy retreat center, the hum of sewing machines, laughter echoing through the halls, and a table stacked with snacks that could feed an army. That was our reality for a glorious few days as we came together for our

annual Just Sew You Know Quilters’ Retreat—a weekend filled with stitches, stories, and just a little sleep deprivation.

Sew Much Fun (and Fabric!)

From the moment we unpacked our fabric stashes and set up our machines, the creativity was on fire! Some of us came with grand plans, and some of us were just winging it, but the end result? A parade of stunning quilts, table runners, bags, and other fabulous projects. Every corner of the retreat was bursting with color and creativity.

And let’s not forget the impromptu problem-solving sessions. Because what’s a retreat without a little seam-ripping, last-minute design changes, and “creative adjustments” when a block mysteriously turns out not to be the size you thought?

Midnight Stitches & Giggles

True to form, we ignored all logic and stayed up way too late . There’s something magical about late-night quilting—it’s when the best ideas are born, the funniest stories are told, and the silliest mistakes are made (like sewing an entire row without thread- 3 or 4 times… we’ve all been there). But somehow, despite the yawns and the caffeine-fueled stitching, we just couldn’t stop.

Feasting Like Fabric Royalty

Let’s be honest—quilting may have been the main event, but the food was a very close second. From homemade goodies to fully planned feasts, we never once went hungry. There were chocolate-fueled sewing sessions, bottomless cups of coffee soda, and spreads that would make a chef jealous. And, of course, there was always that one person with the secret stash of treats they graciously shared with the late-night crowd (you know who you are, and we love you for it).

Surprises & Sweet Treats

One of the best parts of the retreat? The gifts! Quilters are some of the most generous people on the planet, and this retreat was no exception. Whether it was little goodie bags filled with sewing treats, surprise fabric swaps, or thoughtful handmade gifts, everyone went home with something special (besides a slightly sore back from sitting at the machine all day).

The Best Part: Friendship

At the end of the day, the quilts, the late nights, and the gifts were all amazing—but the friendships are what truly make this retreat special. There’s nothing quite like being surrounded by people who get your love for fabric, who cheer you on through complicated patterns, and who laugh with you when things go hilariously wrong.

As we packed up our machines and loaded up our (slightly heavier) bags, we left with full hearts, tons of new memories, and just one or two unfinished projects to tackle at home.

Until next time, happy stitching! ✂️💖
